Text Repost from BBAUV FACEBOOK 24072014
It has been 6 days since BBAUV has arrived in San Diego and these are some highlights of what has happened.

1. The AUV arrived safely at the house on the day of our arrival and we were able to integrate the DVL back, go into the water by the second day.

2. First House pool is too small at deep end to carry out component testing and but we did testing for the individual tasks for the next three days.

3. Connector meltdown and we sacrificed half a day of testing time on our first day at Scripps.

4. Moved to another house today because we could not secure a house over the entire preparation period.

5. Knex parts are taking too long to arrive and we will be using clothes hangers to recreate the pieces for Recovery Task.

6. AUV swam down to 10 metres!

Definitely we are still facing issues as an international team but we are grateful to have the support of title sponsor Hallin Marine for the direct freight of the entire AUV and our support equipment to the US on a short lead time. This has helped reduce our down time and we could resume testing as quickly as possible. We also want to thank Seatronics for arranging export and import permits for the Doppler Velocity Log.

Last but definitely not the least, special thanks to our friends at NOAA Southwest Fisheries and Scripps Institute of Oceangraphy (Roger, Josiah, Marty, Matt and Terry) for allowing our testing in both the TechTank and Scripps’ testing pool. The conditions are ideal for our preparations and we truly appreciate your trust and generous help towards us. Scripps Institution of Oceanography

We are now testing 16 hours daily from 0900 and will continue to do so for the next 4 days. We will be recording more interesting footages of our testing here! For example, we will be using the TechTank tomorrow to test our acoustic localisation and imaging sonar.

5 more days to Robosub, we are looking forward to it! To all our international friends CUAUV andSonia AUV – ETS, hope all our robots will work well for an exciting competition!
